Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe spent the first rest day with mixed feelings. On the one hand, the sporting goal has been achieved for the time being: Primož Roglič has mastered the first hurdles and is in 4th place. Even after the eagerly awaited gravel stage, only 21 seconds separate him from the podium.
On the other hand, the team suffered a painful loss: Aleks Vlasov was injured in a crash on the ninth stage. After initial examinations immediately after the end of the stage, X-rays and CT scans as well as further examinations on the rest day, the diagnosis was confirmed: a fracture of the ankle joint in his right foot. Aleks left before the start of the tenth stage in order to devote himself fully to regeneration.
The second half of the tour begins with a flat stage. As there are several changes of direction in the finale, some wind could upset the expected sprint finale.
