Some stories are simply too perfect to be a coincidence. This year’s Tour de France rest day falls on July 13, making it the ideal moment for Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe to continue its “Lucky 13” story.
In professional cycling, race number 13 has traditionally been worn upside down – a superstition believed to bring good luck for generations. After introducing the Tour de France jersey featuring the iconic inverted 13, the team is now taking the concept one step further. For the Rest Day Kit, the entire design of the current Tour jersey has been turned upside down – the ultimate tribute to Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe’s 13th participation in the Tour de France.
The white that usually appears on the shoulders now moves to the bib shorts. Sponsor logos are flipped upside down. The result is a look never before seen in professional cycling, transforming a long-standing tradition into a bold design statement.
For Remco Evenepoel, the number 13 has long been a lucky charm: “I took my first professional victory with number 13. I became Junior World Champion wearing it, and when I won the Elite World Championship, one of my teammates had number 13. There’s definitely something special about it.”
Florian Lipowitz also has fond memories of the number: “I won my first stage race wearing number 13, so I’ve always had a great connection with it. For me, it’s definitely a lucky number.”
