<p><strong>Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe came close to celebrating a home win at the Münsterland Giro this year. In the end, team sprinter Jordi Meeus finished a brilliant second, only beaten by fellow Belgian Jasper Philipsen.</strong></p><figure class="image image-style-align-center image_resized" style="width:50%;"><img src="https://bora-hansgrohe-cms.s3.eu-central-1.amazonaws.com/sprintcyclingagency_0863933_1_2000px_ab1e353fb8.jpg"></figure><p>The Münsterland Giro is one of Germany’s most important one-day races and also marks the end of the German racing season. Accordingly, Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe had set high goals for their home race. The objective: to secure a top result with the fast classics specialists Danny van Poppel (Netherlands) and Jordi Meeus (Belgium). And they delivered: as the race came down to a mass sprint after 202 kilometers, the Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe lead-out train was perfectly positioned. Jordi Meeus even briefly took the lead but was overtaken by Jasper Philipsen in the final meters. <p><strong>Beinahe hätte Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe beim diesjährigen Münsterland Giro einen Heimsieg bejubeln dürfen. Am Ende musste sich der belgische Teamsprinter Jordi Meeus nur seinem Landsmann Jasper Philipsen geschlagen geben und wurde hervorragender Zweiter.</strong></p><figure class="image image-style-align-center image_resized" style="width:50%;"><img src="https://bora-hansgrohe-cms.s3.eu-central-1.amazonaws.com/sprintcyclingagency_0863933_1_2000px_ab1e353fb8.jpg"></figure><p>Der Münsterland Giro ist eines der wichtigsten Eintagesrennen Deutschlands und gleichzeitig der Abschluss der deutschen Rennsaison. Dementsprechend hoch gesteckt waren die Ziele von Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe beim Heimrennen. Das Ziel: Mit der Doppelspitze der beiden endschnellen Klassikerspezialisten Danny van Poppel (Niederlande) und Jordi Meeus (Belgien) sollte ein Top-Resultat eingefahren werden. Dies gelang: Als es am Ende der 202 Kilometer rund um Münster zum Massensprint kam, war der Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe Sprintzug im richtigen Moment zur Stelle. Jordi Meeus lag zwischenzeitlich sogar in Führung, wurde auf den letzten Metern allerdings noch von Jasper Philipsen überholt. <p><strong>The second stage of the Cro Race was short. At just 114 kilometres long, the day offered plenty of action. Echelons, steep short kickers, valuable bonus seconds and a thrilling finale – it had it all. <p><strong>Die 2. Etappe des Cro Race war kurz. Nur 114 Kilometer lang bot der Tag aber viel Action. <p><strong>Only three days after becoming Road World Championship in Zurich, Lorenzo Finn triumphed at the Italian U19 race Olgiate Molgora-Ghisallo. This victory made him the first GRENKE - Auto Eder rider to win a race wearing the World Champion's jersey with the famous rainbow stripes.</strong></p><p>Winning in the World Champion’s jersey is a rare privilege in the U19 category. Since the World Championships are typically held at the end of the year and the older riders transition to the U23 level, only a select few have the chance to actually race in the iconic white jersey with rainbow stripes. Lorenzo Finn, however, did just that. The freshly crowned World Champion from Zurich lined up just three days after his triumph at the one-day race Olgiate Molgora-Ghisallo in his native Italy – and quickly claimed another victory. After 105.3 kilometers, the 17-year-old crossed the line solo, marking his first win as the reigning World Champion.</p><p>Finn’s triumph is also a special moment for GRENKE - Auto Eder. For the first time in the team’s history, a rider won a race in the iconic World Champion’s jersey with the famous rainbow stripes. While Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe’s U19 team had already produced a road world champion in 2022 with Emil Herzog (Germany), Herzog did not compete in any U19 races after his World Championship victory in Wollongong, Australia, as he moved up to the U23 age group. For Finn, the race at Olgiate Molgora-Ghisallo marked both his final race of the season and his last U19 race. <p><strong>Nur wenige Tage nach seinem WM-Triumph in Zürich triumphierte Lorenzo Finn beim italienischen U19-Rennen Olgiate Molgora-Ghisallo. Erstmals gewann damit ein GRENKE - Auto Eder Fahrer im Weltmeistertrikot mit den bekannten Regenbogenstreifen ein Radrennen.</strong></p><p>Ein Sieg im WM-Trikot ist in der Alterskategorie der U19 eine ganz besondere Angelegenheit. Da die WM zumeist am Jahresende stattfindet und die älteren Jahrgänge danach in die U23-Kategorie wechseln, ist es nämlich nur wenigen Fahrern vergönnt, das begehrte weiße Trikot mit den Regenbogenstreifen auch wirklich im Rennen zu tragen. Lorenzo Finn hat allerdings genau das geschafft. Der frischgebackene Weltmeister von Zürich startete nur drei Tage nach seinem WM-Triumph im Straßenrennen beim Eintagesrennen Olgiate Molgora-Ghisallo in seiner Heimat Italien – und holte prompt den nächsten Sieg. Nach 105,3 Kilometern überquerte der 17-Jährige als Solist die Ziellinie und feierte damit seinen ersten Erfolg als amtierender Weltmeister.</p><p>Für GRENKE - Auto Eder ist Finns Triumph ebenfalls ein besonderer Moment. Erstmals in der Teamgeschichte gewinnt ein Fahrer im Weltmeistertrikot mit den bekannten Regenbogenstreifen ein Radrennen. Zwar hatte die U19-Mannschaft von Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe mit Emil Herzog (Deutschland) bereits 2022 den Straßenweltmeister gestellt, allerdings bestritt Herzog nach seinem WM-Triumph im australischen Wollongong keine U19-Rennen mehr, da er in die U23-Kategorie wechselte. Für Finn war die Teilnahme Olgiate Molgora-Ghisallo das letzte Saisonrennen und auch das letzte U19-Rennen. <p><strong>The World Championships in Zurich came to an end today with the men's road race. Almost 274 kilometers had to be covered on the difficult course around Zurich. Ten riders from Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe competed for their nations.</strong><br>&nbsp;<br>Already in the first half of the race, Florian Lipowitz showed that the course suited him. Around 120 kilometers before the finish, the German was in a strong group that caught up with the race leaders and tactically positioned itself for the second part of the race. Shortly afterwards, the Slovenian team around Primož Roglič got serious. Tadej Pogačar rode out of the peloton and closed the gap to the Lipowitz group. Shortly after, he accelerated from the front with 80 kilometers to go. A selection was made in the peloton and a new group, which included Lipowitz, Jai Hindley, Frederik Wandahl and Roger Adrià, set off in pursuit of the Tour de France winner. The remaining laps were characterized by an attractive race full of attacks. <p><strong>Mit dem Straßenrennen der Männer gingen heute die Weltmeisterschaften in Zürich zu Ende. Knapp 274 Kilometer waren auf dem schweren Kurs rund um Zürich zurückzulegen. Zehn Fahrer von Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe traten für ihre Nationen an.</strong><br><strong>&nbsp;</strong><br>Bereits in der ersten Rennhälfte zeigte Florian Lipowitz, dass ihm der Kurs lag. Rund 120 Kilometer vor dem Ziel war der Deutsche in einer starken Gruppe, die zur Rennspitze aufschloss und sich taktisch klug für den zweiten Teil positionierte. Kurz darauf macht das slowenische Team um Primož Roglič ernst. Tadej Pogačar fuhr aus dem Peloton nach vorn zur Lipowitz-Gruppe und beschleunigte 80 Kilometer vor dem Ziel von der Spitze. Im Peloton kam es zur Selektion und eine neue Gruppe, in der neben Lipowitz auch Jai Hindley, Frederik Wandahl und Roger Adrià fuhren, machte sich auf die Verfolgung des Tour de France-Siegers. Die verbliebenen Runden waren von einem attraktiven, offensiven Rennen geprägt. <p><strong>The Italian from the GRENKE - Auto Eder team secured the gold medal at the World Championship in Zurich with an impressive solo victory. Paul Fietzke (Germany) finished fourth, and Theodor August Clemmensen (Denmark) came in ninth, rounding off the excellent results for the Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe U19 riders.</strong></p><p>Lorenzo Finn is the new world champion. The 17-year-old Italian had the strongest legs in the 127.2-kilometer U19 road race at the World Championships in Zurich. Finn launched his first attack 60 kilometers from the finish but was caught by his competitors. However, with 20 kilometers to go, he attacked again, leaving his remaining rivals behind. In pouring rain, Finn built a big lead, winning the gold medal with a 2:05 minute gap over Britain’s Sebastian Grindley and 3:06 minutes ahead of the Netherlands’ Senna Remijn. Just behind, Germany’s Paul Fietzke narrowly missed the bronze medal, finishing fourth (+3:06 minutes). Theodor August Clemmensen (Denmark, +6:45 minutes) rounded off the strong performance of the GRENKE - Auto Eder riders with a ninth-place finish.</p><p>Following the 2022 title by Germany’s Emil Herzog, the gold medal at the 2024 World Championships goes once again to a rider from GRENKE - Auto Eder. Last year, Paul Fietzke also took silver. Finn’s victory is yet another testament to the excellent development program of the WorldTeam Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe. For Finn, this triumph caps off a hugely successful season. Earlier in the year, he claimed the Italian championship titles in both the road race and time trial. Bereits 60 Kilometer vor dem Ziel hatte Finn erstmals attackiert, wurde aber von der Konkurrenz wieder gestellt. 20 Kilometer vor dem Schlussstrich konnte er mit einem erneuten Antritt aber auch die letzten verbliebenen Konkurrenzen distanzieren. Im strömenden Regen fuhr Finn einen uneinholbaren Vorsprung heraus und gewann schließlich mit 2:05 Minuten Vorsprung auf den Briten Sebastian Grindley und mit 3:06 Minuten Vorsprung auf den Niederländer Senna Remijn die Goldmedaille. Dahinter verpasste der Deutsche Paul Fietzke als Vierter (+ 3:06 Minuten) nur haarscharf die Bronzemedaille. Theodor August Clemmensen (Dänemark, + 6:45 Minuten) rundete als Neunter den starken Auftritt der GRENKE - Auto Eder Fahrer ab.</p><p>Nach dem Titelgewinn durch den Deutschen Emil Herzog im Jahr 2022 geht die Goldmedaille damit auch bei den Weltmeisterschaften 2024 an einen Fahrer aus den Reihen von GRENKE - Auto Eder. Im vergangenen Jahr hatte Paul Fietzke zudem Silber gewonnen. Finns Erfolg ist damit einmal mehr ein Beleg für die hervorragende Nachwuchsarbeit des WorldTeams Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe. Für Finn ist es wiederum der Abschluss einer äußerst erfolgreichen Saison. Im Laufe des Jahres war er unter anderem italienischer Meister im Straßenrennen und im Zeitfahren geworden. Normalerweise mag ich Regen nicht so gern, aber der heutige Tag war einfach perfekt. Dass wir mit Paul und Theodor zwei weitere Fahrer unter den besten Zehn haben, ist die Krönung auf eine ohnehin extrem erfolgreiche Saison und eine Bestätigung unserer erfolgreichen Nachwuchsarbeit.
