Paul Fietzke becomes German road champion and Kryštof Král takes the championship title in the Czech Republic. Duarte Marivoet had already won the Belgian time trial title in May.

Three times gold and four times silver – Team Auto Eder's record at this year's National Junior Cycling Championships is impressive. At the title competitions held last week in numerous countries, the U19 athletes of the WorldTeam BORA - hansgrohe once again proved that they are among the best young riders in Europe.

Paul Fietzke, who had already won silver at the German Time Trial Championships at the beginning of June, also showed that he is currently the strongest German junior cyclist in the road race held at the weekend. In the sprint, he edged out Louis Leidert, among others, for second place. In the Czech Republic, Kryštof Král won gold in the road race. He had also ridden to the silver medal in the individual time trial before.

At the beginning of May, the Belgian Duarte Marivoet had already won his country's time trial championship title. And Karl Kurits (silver at the time trial championships in Estonia), as well as Tamás Hancz (silver in the time trial in Hungary), rounded off Team Auto Eder's good performance at the 2023 national cycling championships.

Tamás Hancz still has a chance to win a fourth champion's jersey on 1 July, when he will compete in the road championships of his country. The next big race for the Team Auto Eder riders is now the French Ain Bugey Valromey Tour from July 12th to 16th – a five-day stage race that is considered the Tour de France of junior cycling.

Comments

"The results in the various championship races show that our riders are currently in a very good shape. The championship titles of Kryštof Král in the Czech Republic, Paul Fietzke in Germany and Duarte Marivoet in Belgium underline this even more. We are very proud to have these champions' jerseys now in our ranks." — Dr Christian Schrot, Sporting Director

"The race was very hot with temperatures around 30 degrees. I attacked several times and was able to successfully break away from the competition at the end together with Louis Leidert. In the end, I relied on my good sprinting skills, which worked out perfectly. A great race." — Paul Fietzke

"I am more than happy with my performance at this year's Czech Championships - especially because I didn't expect second place in the time trial. I am now happy to wear the jersey of the Czech champion until the next title races." — Kryštof Král
