After 190 kilometres and 4:18:54 hours, the Italian won the sprint ahead of Aubin Sparfel (France, Decathlon CMA CGM Development Team) and Blake Agnoletto (Australia, Groupama-FDJ United CT). With his renewed success, Magagnotti not only extended his overall lead, but is now also at the top of the points and junior rankings. The Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe Rookies also lead the team classification.
I'm really very happy about this second victory here in Brittany and hope that it continues like this.
The third stage was much more demanding than the opening stage and was characterised by high speed from the start. After a breakaway group had escaped, the team controlled the race from the peloton. In the finale, the German team finally ensured that the escapees were caught in time before Magagnotti once again proved his class in the sprint.
“The race was really tough today,” said Magagnotti at the finish. “But our strategy was perfect - it could hardly have been better. My legs were also good, especially on the last lap. I'm really happy about this second victory here in Brittany and hope it continues like this.”
In the end, Alessio was clearly the strongest in the sprint. The fact that we are now back in the lead and leading several classifications is a great achievement for the whole team.
Sports Director Gregor Gazvoda praised the team's unity in particular: “It was a difficult stage today. We therefore decided to take control ourselves. The boys were extremely motivated and organised the race superbly. They did an outstanding job, especially on the difficult final lap. In the end, Alessio was clearly the strongest in the sprint. The fact that we are now back in the lead and leading several classifications is a great achievement for the whole team.”
With two stage wins and the lead in all important classifications, the Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe Rookies underline their strong form and go into the upcoming stages of the tour with a lot of self-confidence. The Tour de Bretagne ends on 1 May in Dinan.
