Lorenzo Finn crowned the Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe Rookies' season with an impressive solo victory. The 18-year-old Italian won the 88th edition of the Coppa Città di San Daniele - a classic on the Italian racing calendar - in commanding style after an attack on Monte Ragogna around 30 kilometres from the finish. It was Finn's first victory as a newly crowned U23 world champion - even though he was not allowed to wear the coveted rainbow jersey due to the open eligibility for riders of all age groups.
I'm very happy about this victory - a perfect end to the season.
"It was a great day for me and the whole team," said Finn at the finish. "Our plan worked out perfectly: Theodor Clemmensen and Sebastian Putz were in the group of the day early on. Callum Thornley, Davide Donati and Lennart Jasch controlled the peloton behind them - and on the last two climbs I was able to attack, catch up with the leaders and then break away. I'm very happy about this victory - a perfect end to the season."
With Sebastian Putz in fourth place, another rider from the Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe Rookies rounded off the strong team result. Behind Finn, Federico Iacomoni (Italy) and Elliot Rowe (Great Britain) completed the podium.
Another impressive performance from our Rookies, who together controlled the race and prepared it perfectly for Lorenzo.
John Wakefield, Director of Development at Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe, was correspondingly satisfied: "Another impressive performance from our Rookies, who controlled the race together and prepared it perfectly for Lorenzo," he said happily. He continued: "Lorenzo is carrying his world championship form into the autumn and impressed with his consistency, self-confidence and class. Today was a prime example of what is possible when a team works towards a goal and everyone pulls together."
With this success, the Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe Rookies conclude their debut season on the international stage - and thus set another exclamation mark in a year full of highlights. In total, the newly founded 2025 U23 team achieved an impressive nine victories this season. They were the second-best European Continental team in the UCI team rankings.
